SHADOWS=HELP

We need your advice...Ethan is scared of shadows...he wakes up at night screaming because the shadows from his night light are on his wall. When we put him to bed he won't look at the wall because of the shadows. He won't sleep without a night light so taking that out isn't an option. He points to shadows throughout the day and says "scary". If you've experienced this with your child and figured out a solution let us know. We want Ethan to have peace of mind and we want some sleep back.

Try to make shadows fun like when you are walking around outside have him jump on your shadow kind of like shadow tag and then maybe he will see them as fun instead of scary hope that helps

Poor little guy. Poor you guys too, functioning on little sleep with kids around is hard.

I agree with the first person, try and make them fun, or maybe hang a fun poster or something he likes on the wall where the shadow to the night light is so the shadow isn't the only thing he sees there.

Good luck.

I agree! Make them fun. Take him outside and tell him to watch his shadow. Tell him it's his freind following him. Or at night make a shadow puppet show? Hopefully that will help.

Seems like one of my girls was afraid of them but I don't remember what we did. Maybe get one of those lights that is like a disco ball that will spin the colors around the room to keep his mind off the shadows until he grows out of this stage--because that is what it is--and thank goodness they grow out of things like this.

We give our boys glow bracelets. You can usually get them at a craft store, 10 for a buck. They love them and they don't get as scared at night since they have their bracelets. It is also incentive to get them to go to bed and stay in bed. If they get out they get their bracelets taken away. Hope this helps.
