My kids are plotting against me!

All the sheets and blankets pulled off the crib

Ugh! At least they were playing well together! Bed time came very quick tonight!

Basically they have adopted 5 kids from Haiti and have paid all of the dues for them. They have been struggling with the paperwork to get the kids here to the states. Since the earthquake happened they have been granted Humanitarian Parole and can go and get their kids. Now they have to pay for flights to get over there and flights to get back to the states. They are facing a difficult financial hurdle. Any one that can help I know they would appreciate it. On the blog above is a link to donate. Ethan playing with dolls!?!?!?!

Ethan got a hold of Malia's baby doll and this is what he did to it....

Yes that is a football helmet shoved on her head, I'm sure Adam is so proud!

Good News=) And Bad news =(

Well for the bad news first. At about 4 am I heard Malia coughing for just a few seconds, didn't think much of it, and she never cried or anything so I just assumed that she went back to sleep. Well this morning I went to get her, and there was puke EVERYWHERE! All over the crib, blankets, and herself. It smelled awful in her room, I felt so bad for her! Poor girl threw up, didn't cry once and then went back to sleep right in the middle of it!! I guess I won't be winning the Mom Of The Year Award for that one! She's perked up a little now so hopefully it's over. She's giving the camera one her many death glares...I don't know where she gets that from!

Now for the good news. Mack #3 is on the way! Most of you probably already knew that since my belly is getting bigger and bigger by the day. I seriously think I am about 3 times the size I was with Ethan. This was quite a SURPRISE and we still haven't figured out how having a 3 year old, 1 1/2 year old, and a newborn is going to work, but it will somehow, maybe I'll just have to go a little crazy. Anyways we had our sonogram today! Everything looked perfect! And we are having a....................

girl......................... or maybe a boy........................ actually we have no idea. We decided not to find out and wait until we have the baby. I know, most of you think we are crazy, and I think both of our families are going to kill us, but that's what we are doing. It was SO hard not to look at the screen when they were looking in that area. I was strong and didn't peek, Adam said he didn't peek either. Not that we could figure it out if we were looking. Unfortunately the baby was moving all over the place and not being very cooperative so we couldn't get any real good pictures. We only got one good picture of the body, and no you cannot tell from this picture.

As I was typing this Ethan and Malia wanted to be in on the action so they BOTH climbed up on my lap and just sat and watched me type. Then came the pushing and shoving. I tried to get a picture but it wasn't working very well. This was about the best I could get! You can kind of see Malia's other hand that kept hitting Ethan's head and pulling his hair. She will definitely be one tough little girl!!

All about the scary day

Yesterday stared off a normal day. Ethan ran around playing and tormenting the dogs and cats. Malia took a nap, then we headed off to my mom's house for a bit. I was going to just say a few minutes to drop something off, but decided to stay, and I'm so glad I did.

After a little while Ethan climbed up on my mom's chair and said he wanted to go "seepy". He had woken up early so I didn't think anything of it at the time. He slept for a good hour and a half there. My sister stopped by after work and after about 20 min or so I noticed Ethan was awake so I went over to see him and that is when the day changed for the worse.

I picked him up a little bit and noticed he was shaking really bad. I called his name a few times, but nothing. My sister, who is a nurse, came over and said he's having a seizure. The only thing I could think of was call 911. I handed him to her and called. I could see her carry him over to the the floor and lay him down. His body was convulsing for what seemed like forever. As I was talking to 911, I heard my sister say, his lips and fingertips are turning blue. That's when I thought, oh my gosh he's going to die in front of me and there is nothing I can do to stop it. I have never felt more terrified or helpless than I did at that moment. I was praying like crazy in my head that everything would be ok. I think I asked my sister about 10 times over a few seconds if he had a pulse and if his heart was beating. She kept saying yes there's a heartbeat, yes he has a pulse. I'm so grateful she was there. It's funny, I totally know what to do in situations like that, but when it was my own child, I couldn't think straight, I knew that she knew what she was doing and that she would do everything she could to help him.

I remember seeing his little body gasping for air and not responding and I just prayed and prayed that it would just stop, then it did. His body stopped shaking, his color came back, I finally felt a little relief. I called Adam after I got off the phone with 911. He was probably just a little shocked when I said he had a seizure, since I had just talked to him and everything was fine. I felt bad for him because he wasn't there and really couldn't do anything but wait and listen to what I was telling him.

The paramedics got there just after the seizure stopped and they were wonderful. He was still not awake or responding to anything, but at least he was breathing. They checked all of his vitals, and he did have a fever of 102. They said that it is very common to have a febrile seizure in children his age, still not much comfort. He finally opened his eyes to see about 7 paramedics standing over him poking and prodding him, and he had the most confused look on his face, like who are these people and what the heck are they doing to me, and then I heard him cry, I never thought I would be so incredibly thankful to hear him cry, but I was. He cried for a bit and then was kind of out of it for the next little bit. They said it's normal to be sleepy and out of it for a while. After he was a little more responsive they said that they had a standing order that if a child has a seizure with a fever and it's there first, they don't transport to the hospital, what? I guess it's really common and there isn't much more they can do. They told me to call his doctor and see what she wanted me to do. We did, and she said, go to the ER.

So we headed off to TMC. My sister came along and checked on him in the car to make sure he was ok. When we got there it was completely empty and we got right into a room. Adam met us there, and I'm sure he was so incredibly glad to see Ethan. He basically slept the entire time we were there. The doctor came in and said the same thing the paramedics did. It's very scary, but not dangerous. It happens a lot, etc. But that he could have another and that would be normal too! WHAT? How is this normal??? That's about all they did. They said just to watch him and give him Tylenol with his fever. Well, he finally woke up at about 5 with no fever, and totally back to the normal bouncing off the wall Ethan that we are used to. He acted as if nothing happened and that continued. Last night there was no way he was sleeping in his bed by himself, so there he was in between Adam and I with Finding Nemo on, and he was loving it. Throughout the night I remember waking up A LOT and just checking on him to make sure he wasn't getting too hot and that he was ok. He woke up quite a bit too, he wanted his diaper changed, a drink, a bandage, and I think he wanted to play a little too. I guess he wasn't that tired after basically sleeping from 12 to 5.

We just wanted to blog about this in case you haven't heard of this. It is pretty common and apparently if it only last a few minutes is not dangerous, just extremely scary to watch. We are so grateful for the family that we have here in town that were able to help out, and our family that is not here that prayed for everything to be ok. I know our prayers were answered and we are so grateful to the Lord for getting us through this with him ok. As I type this I hear Ethan running around telling our dogs what to do. He's definitely back to himself.
